BRAVE: This Band Is Playing Like Nobody’s Watching (and No One Is!)

In these trying times, one band’s attitude about an empty venue will truly inspire you! The Truth, a hardcore band from Schaumburg, Illinois is turning heads by playing their songs as if NO ONE is watching. What makes these musicians so brave? No one is watching!

GOT THE FEELS YET?

That’s right. When Mark Napier reached out to The Tea Room in Tinley Park, Illinois he wasn’t phased at all when the owner, Kelly Dilbern, told him they never have shows because no one ever comes to them. In fact, to Napier and his nine-piece band, they saw this as a CHALLENGE.

So what did Napier do? Exactly what you’d least expect: He mailed 900 flyers to The Tea Room three days before the show and asked Dilbern and her street team to pass them out all over town. “Save a few for yourself to commemorate this epic show,” a note inside the package read.

Napier, who has never played a show outside of his parent’s garage, didn’t even flinch when Dilbern emailed and asked if they could finish their set by 5 p.m., “because that’s when the Tea Room closes.” Instead, Napier became even braver and told her they’d be done by 4:30 p.m. since they “only have, like, three solid songs.”

IS YOUR HEART EXPLODING YET?

When The Pickled Dills rolled up to The Tea Room at 10 a.m. they didn’t even flinch when the line they expected to be outside the door wasn’t there. In fact, they LAUGHED. “Our fans are notoriously late, and we sing about it in one of our favorite songs, Notoriously Late,” said Napier.

AND THEN, SOMETHING AMAZING HAPPENED.

The band waited until 4 p.m., hoping someone, anyone, would show up to the Tea Room to watch them play. But when no one did, not even a girlfriend or little brother. Napier and his band did something that will blow your mind: They walked onto the makeshift stage next to the varieties of green teas and played as if NO ONE WAS WATCHING. And they continued to play their three songs over and over for 45 minutes, not caring that even the Tea Room’s cat, Smuckers, ran into the manager’s office.

BRAVE.
