The groundbreaking, and some might say life-changing, anime series Dragon Ball Z aired in Japan from 1989 to 1996 with a whopping 291 episodes. Hey, wait! Where are you going? Don’t go away. It is about time someone took this series to task and ranked all of the episodes. This is IMPORTANT. I promise this will make you want to watch the entire series.
We spent 106 hours and 42 minutes of our lives re-watching this series. Well I did. The rest of the staff gave up halfway through season 1. Here is the thing, there may be 20 sagas with 291 episodes over 16 seasons, but each episode has its own personality and nuances that you begin to gleen once you get into the guts of it all. Do you want to take notes? You should take notes, this is going to get complicated.
291: The Horror Won’t End”’ (S10, E25) — Now I think we can all agree that, “The Horror Won’t End” is the weakest of the franchise … wait … hold on, sit down. I think you’ll find this interesting. This is the episode where Cell and Gohan unleash their Kamehameha waves … don’t roll your eyes, if you watched the show you would understand.
290: The Incredible Fighting Candy (S15, E19) — OK, you are going to get a kick out of this one. Vegito is turned into a piece of candy … DON’T MAKE THAT FACE! Like I said, these are at the bottom of the list but you have to understand how tragic it is that Vegito is almost eaten by Super Buu. STOP LAUGHING!
289. Deadly Beauty (S7, E10) — I know I am going to catch a lot of flack from my tabletop gaming group for this one but I just don’t like this episode and it is definitely the weakest of the Androids Saga — the weakest saga of the series. See the Androids Saga … wait first I have to explain The Red Ribbon Army which is technically from the original Dragon Ball series but shows up again … you know what, nevermind, not important.
288: Dende’s Demise (S4, E9) — You really think Goku is going to come out of the rejuvenation chamber in this episode but they push it another episode. Oh, I’m sorry. Do you have an important text … urgent email? No? You keep looking at your phone I thought something might be wrong. No? OK, let’s keep going…
287: Spirit Bomb Triumphant (S9, E33) — This is a very controversial choice but let me explain. At one point Gohan thinks to himself, “We can’t even get there to help unless Kibito Kai takes us,” but Gohan has never heard of Kibito Kai! How are we to believe…
What’s that? Your mom texted you? She fell? Oh my God! Yes, yes, of course. Do what you have to do. We’ll pick this up another time. I hope she is OK!
