DETROIT – Legendary rocker Dave Grohl added another memorable moment to the latest Foo Fighters tour last night when he brought one lucky fan on stage for a once in a lifetime, 45-minute back rub.
Grohl had just finished belting out the last note of the Foo Fighters classic “Monkey Wrench” when he noticed a woman standing in the front row who seemed to be experiencing some discomfort.
“Hey you with the purple hair, you seem to be carrying a lot of stress in your shoulders. How about you come up here? I think I know what will make you feel better: A nice relaxing back rub should be just what the doctor ordered. Is that what you mother fuckers want!?,” Grohl shouted to the sold-out crowd at the DTE Energy Music Theater.
Throughout the 45-minute massage Grohl alternated between muscle kneading, sweeping massage strokes, and his specialty, rhythmic tapping which seemed to lull the lucky fan into a state of tranquility despite the capacity crowd’s nonstop cheering.
“He told me to undress to my comfort level, which might sound creepy, but I felt safe with Dave,” said the lucky fan identified as Shannon Buckley. “The band was also nice enough to play some relaxing ambient background music to make the whole experience that much more special.”

Upon completion of the back rub Grohl lit some incense, presented Buckley with some essential oils from his personal collection, and did a brief breathing exercise with her before having security help her rejoin the crowd of music bloggers, who quickly left the show after to write about the Dave Grohl Good-Guy Rock Star Moment.
Grohl then capped the moment by addressing the crowd, “That’s the great thing about a Foo Fighters show. You never know what you’re going to get.”
UPDATE: Reports indicate Grohl is currently working on a documentary about the back rub.
